Two 16 credit undergraduate semester programs, based at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute near the Shenandoah National Park in Front Royal, Virginia, offer students the opportunity to live and learn among prominent research scientists, wildlife biologists, educators, and other leading conservation professionals.

Sylvia Vitazkova, director of the George Mason University Center for Conservation Studies, and Kate Christen, of the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, represented the Smithsonian-Mason Global Conservation Studies Program at the Student Conference on Conservation Science in New York.
