About
The Mason Center for Conservation Studies (MCCS) and the Center for Conservation Education and Sustainability at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute (SCBI) have forged an exciting partnership to offer the Smithsonian-Mason Global Conservation Studies Program - hands-on undergraduate, graduate, and professional education opportunities in conservation science.
The Smithsonian-Mason partnership offers courses in conservation theory, field methods and practice, and human dimensions of conservation. Instructors include Mason faculty, Smithsonian scientists, and colleagues from other US and international conservation organizations.
All programs take place on the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute's historic and beautiful 3,200 acre facility in Front Royal, VA, a research base for conservation scientists working at the cutting edge of wildlife ecology and reproductive science. SCBI scientists collaborate with partners around the world to conserve threatened species and ecosystems.
Students reside at SCBI-Front Royal for the duration of their course work, adjacent to the picturesque Shenandoah Valley.
